Nashville School Options

2020-21 Optional School Applications

Metro Nashville Public Schools uses a zoning system to assign students to the school that is nearest to them. You can verify which school falls within your zone by using our Zone Finder. However, if you would prefer to send your child to a school other than your zoned school, you can fill out an Optional Application to your preferred school.

Before you apply to a school, take the time to explore and visit schools you are interested in. Once you are ready to apply, you will need to go through our application process. This is how it works:

Application Process:

  • You will need to rank your choices in order of preference, 1 to 7

If your student is new to Metro Schools and would like to apply to an optional school for the current school year, you must submit a paper application.
