Community Eligibility Program
Information about your child’s lunch
Metro Nashville Public Schools participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal reimbursement program that allows school districts to offer lunch at no cost to students in eligible schools. MNPS was initially able to participate district-wide because the district’s direct certification percentage, which is how Tennessee measures poverty in schools, was at 60 percent when the program began. Since then, our direct certification percentage has dropped to 42 percent. This is not due to an actual reduction in poverty, but reflects a change in how the poverty rate is calculated. As a result, MNPS is no longer eligible and cannot offer this program to all students at all schools; however, we have continued to offer the program at all schools that are still eligible
We know we have children who rely on our nutrition services program as a reliable source for a healthy meal. We will continue to provide free breakfast to all students in all schools and we will offer CEP to eligible schools.
Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSWhat does this mean for my student?
Students who attend a school that will require an application for free- or reduced-price lunch will be able to apply online and by paper form.
When Metro Schools are operating virtually, we are still required to follow eligibility rules for meal distribution to students. It is important for all eligible families in non-CEP schools to apply for free- and reduced lunch.
Information on applying for free- and reduced lunch is on the Nutrition Services page.
Schools That Will Require A Free- or Reduced-Price Lunch Application
The following schools will require a free- and reduced-price application for families who are eligible for free/reduced pricing. Families can use last year’s eligibility status through Sept. 14, 2020 or until a new application is processed. These schools are no longer eligible for the Community Eligibility Provision and therefore cannot offer lunch at no-cost to all students. .
