Virtual Learning Parent Playbook
During virtual learning, attendance will be taken. Below are the attendance procedures.
virtual attendance procedure
The new 2020-21 Attendance Code D, Distance Learning, will be used for positive attendance reporting to track students that actively participate in instructional distance learning. If a virtual student is absent on a school day when he/she is expected to participate, the school should report the day absent as excused or unexcused, just as they would for a regular absence. Students who are unable to actively participate in remote learning at no fault of their own due to lack of technology or other required resources should be coded as an excused absence and provided the opportunity for make-up work.
Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSStudents attending remotely must log into Schoology by 11:59 pm each instructional day and actively engage in learning opportunities by, but not limited to, submitting assignments, completing assessments, participating in online classroom discussions, and/or interacting with teachers. Pre-K students must log into Flipgrid instead of Schoology by 11:59 pm.
Student login and interaction data requires 24 hours to process in Schoology. At 8:00 am the day after the 24-hour processing period, the Attendance Secretary will pull the Absence Schoology Activity Report from SharePoint Site. For example, Monday’s attendance report will be pulled on Wednesday at 8:00 am.
Attendance Secretary will determine the active participation of each student in instructional distance learning based on the Absence Schoology Activity Report.
Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSThe Attendance Secretary will then record all absences in Infinite Campus and generate an Absentee Report to email to teachers.
Teachers will review the Absentee Report to ensure the students listed have not actively interacted or responded to instruction. Teachers will report students who participated in instruction to the Attendance Secretary via email or phone as discrepancies with the Absentee Report.
Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSAttendance Secretary will reconcile all absences in Infinite Campus.
If your student is unable to participate in virtual learning due to illness or other excused reason, please send an email to his/her teacher and school attendance designee.
text reminders for k-4 students
Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSAs part of MNPS’ positive attendance outreach, the district is piloting a text messaging program in our elementary schools that informs parents of their student’s attendance records via text messages. Elementary school parents can expect to see reminders start on or around Sept. 8, 2020.
