Student Laptops, Email addresses, User name and Password

How to log in to your MNPS laptop

  • On laptops received after October 19, students should log into their MNPS laptop with their full email address. So, if the student's name is Maria Smith, the log in with her name and ID would look something like this: MariaS12345@mnpsk12.org

  • Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSFor laptops received prior to October 19, or on older model laptops, log in requires only the student's user name and not the @mnpsk12.org part of the email address. Example: MariaS12345

    • Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOS Please ask your school for help if you do not know your user name and passwords

Student email addresses are used to log into Office365 online, Schoology and Clever. Email addresses are a combination of the student username mentioned above and @mnpsk12.org

Student Passwords are provided at the beginning of each school year. Students are encouraged to change their default password.

Change your default password

Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSClick on the topic for more information:

Students are encouraged to change their default password

Always change your password from the default password assigned to you. If you are still using the default password please remember to change it to something unique that you would remember.

The password must be at least 8 characters but we recommend making a more complex password of least 8 characters using a mixture of special characters, capitalization, and/or numbers.

Tips for Picking a new Password

One way to do this is to replace letters with a number that looks like the letter, like using the number 1 for L or the number 3 for the letter E. This is better, but often difficult to remember. To create a more complex and but easier to remember password is by using a phrase instead of a single word in your password.

Some examples of strong passwords using phrases with mixed characters:

  • IAte4SlicesOfPizza!
  • The#1ColorIsPurple
  • LetItGo!LetItGo!LetItGo!LetItGo!

How to Change your default password - Two Ways to do it

1. On you school laptop while logged in and connected to Global Connect, press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys at the same time and select the 'Change Password' option on the menu screen that is presented.

2. While logged into the Office 365 Portal or SharePoint Online, click on your picture in the upper right corner of the browser window and click the 'View Account' option.

On the new page that opens, click on the 'Security & Privacy' menu and then click the 'Password' option. You may have to review the Microsoft Security Policy (by the provided link on screen) before the Security & Privacy menu options will appear

Bắn Cá Hải Tặc iOSIf you change your password this way your student laptop may still need your old password until it connects to GlobalConnect.

NOTE: It is important to know that when passwords are changed, it can take up to 20 minutes for the process to synchronize between on-premise and Office 365 systems completes. Please be patient and allow the noted time to pass before reporting an issue with password changes.

GlobalProtect

Click on the topic for more information:

How do I log into Global Protect?

Global Protect is the internet filter required by law that is installed on all MNPS laptops. For the laptop to connect to the internet, Global Protect must be enabled. If you are having issues logging into your computer because of Global Protect, please try the following:

  • Reboot the Laptop
  • Connect to your Wi-Fi network or hotspot (Click the Globe in the lower-right of your screen and select your network)
  • Check to make sure Global Protect is connected
    - If you do not see the Global Protect Status, click “Sign in Options” then click the shield icon.
    - If the GlobalProtect Status is Disconnected, restart your computer and check again. If after 3 Restarts you are still disconnected, you may need to exchange your laptop (see below). If GlobalProtect is Connected, log into the laptop.
  • After logging into the laptop, GlobalProtect may ask you for a username and password. Use the same username and password you used to log into the laptop. After entering in the password, it may take 2 minutes for GlobalProtect to connect. If the GlobalProtect status continues to say “Disconnected,” you may need to connect to the MNPS network to sync your device.
  • Syncing or exchanging your laptop

Syncing your laptop with the MNPS Network may fix your issue. This may be done by visiting any MNPS location. While access to the inside of the building is restricted, connecting to the Wi-Fi from outside the building is possible in most cases. Simply connect to the school’s Wi-Fi and try Steps 1-4 above.

Once your laptop has synced and is working, it should work while connected to your home Wi-Fi network. If syncing your laptop does not fix the issue, you will need to exchange your laptop for a working device. Contact your school to schedule a time to exchange your laptop.
